Spreadsheet → App

Convert your spreadsheet into an app

Bring an Excel workbook or a Google Sheet; leave with a working multi-user application — forms, rules, lookups and dashboards compiled straight from your tabs.

Spreadsheet-to-app converters come in three shapes. Data-sync tools put an app skin over your live sheet — the spreadsheet stays the database, with all of its limits. Builder tools import your rows once, then make you rebuild every rule and formula by hand in their editor. Sheetward takes the third path: it compiles your spreadsheet. The tabs, rules and formulas you wrote are the specification, and the output is a complete application with isolated data per app.

That is why the conversion is deterministic — Sheetward builds from your workbook’s business logic, not AI guesswork — and why it shows you exactly what it understood before anything goes live.

How it works

1

Bring your spreadsheet

Excel workbooks upload directly; Google Sheets connect through the built-in integration. Name your tabs — Form_, List_, Rules_, Formula_ — so the converter knows what each one means.

2

Review the conversion

Every detected field, data type, dropdown source and validation rule is listed for you to confirm or adjust — no silent guesses.

3

Go live with your team

The app is generated the moment you confirm — nothing to compile, no build queue. Invite teammates with roles and enter validated records the same day.

What converts

Multi-form apps

Several Form_ sheets become one app with multiple pages — including headers with repeating line items, like an order and its lines.

Plain-language rules

Validations, conditional requirements and business keys written as ordinary Rules_ rows — enforced on every save, never only in the browser.

Live calculations

Formula_ rows become computed fields — totals and derived values that update as your team types.

File attachments

Attach files to records with safe in-browser previews for images, PDFs and text — executable uploads are rejected outright.

Multi-language apps

One workbook can ship the same app in English, German, Japanese and Arabic — labels, master data and formats switch with each viewer’s language.

Dashboards & KPIs

Add a Report_ sheet and the app gets KPI tiles, charts and an interactive pivot — no separate BI tool.

Why teams pick Sheetward

  • No rebuild. The logic in your spreadsheet is honored, not re-implemented by hand in a proprietary editor.
  • Deterministic by design — no prompts, no LLM, no confidently-wrong guesses between your data and your rules.
  • Leave anytime: export back to Excel, CSV or JSON, or take the standalone bundle and run the app yourself.
  • Flat pricing with a free tier — no per-user seats, no metered updates.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Google Sheets?

Yes. Google Sheets import through the built-in integration, and exports can go back to Sheets as well as Excel, CSV and JSON.

Is my existing data imported?

Not silently. The app starts empty; you bulk-import your rows so every one of them passes validation on the way in, and rows with matching business keys update in place instead of duplicating.

How long does a conversion take?

Seconds. Sheetward parses the workbook on upload, you review what it detected, and the app is live the moment you confirm — there is no build to wait for.

What if my spreadsheet is messy?

The tab markers make your intent explicit, and the review step lists everything Sheetward detected — including warnings. Adjust the workbook, upload again, and iterate on the live app in minutes.

Can I keep using my spreadsheet afterwards?

The workbook remains the design document: revise it and re-upload to evolve the app. Day-to-day records live in the app, where they are validated and audited — and you can export them any time.
