Add a form or change an existing one
Updated Aug 14, 2026
Your app's design lives in its App Specification — the Excel (.xlsx), OpenDocument (.ods) or Google Sheets workbook you used to create it. That means you never rebuild anything from scratch: to add a form or change one, you edit the workbook and re-upload it. Sheetward shows you what will change before anything happens, and your existing records are kept.
What do you want to change?
| You want to… | Edit this in your workbook |
|---|---|
| Add a new form (say, an expense claim alongside your purchase orders) | Add a new `Form_` sheet |
| Add fields to an existing form | Add the new fields on that form's sheet |
| Remove fields from a form | Delete those fields from that form's sheet |
| Update rules and formulas | Change them in the relevant sheets |
| Update or add dashboards | Change the relevant sheets |
Make the change
- In your workbook, make the edits from the table above.
- Open the app and click Change app.
- Upload the edited workbook.
- Review the preview of what will change, then click Apply. Your existing records are kept.
Lost the original workbook?
No problem — the app itself holds the current design. On the App card, click Download Excel specs to get a workbook that matches your app as it is today. Edit that copy and re-upload it through Change app.
Good to know
- Existing records are preserved across a change. If you remove a field, though, the values stored in that field are dropped with it.
- Change app is also where you add an additional language to your app.
