Copy an app to another workspace

Updated Aug 9, 2026

Built a great expense-claims app and want your other region to use it too? Transfers sends a copy of an app to a different workspace. It works like a handshake between two admins. Nothing is copied until the destination admin approves, and your original app is never changed.

When would you copy an app?

  • Closing a workspace — move your apps somewhere else before you shut it down.
  • Separate environments — you set up new workspaces for development, staging, or testing and want copies of your apps there, kept apart from production.
  • New business units or regions — the business grows. Reuse a proven app — a purchase-order tracker, say — in each new workspace instead of rebuilding it.

Who does what?

PersonWhat they do
Sending admin (you)Picks the app(s), chooses the destination, decides whether records go along, and sends the request. Can cancel while it is still pending.
Destination adminSees the request under Incoming and approves or declines it. Approval is what triggers the copy.

Send a copy

  • Go to Admin console → Transfers.
  • Pick the app or apps you want to send.
  • Enter the destination admin's email, then choose the destination workspace from the list — one email may administer several workspaces.
  • Choose whether to include record data, then send.

What arrives on approval

The app's designAlways — its forms, fields, and dashboards.

RecordsOnly if you chose include record data. Leave it off for a clean start, for example when setting up a test workspace.

Good to know

  • The copy must fit the destination workspace's plan limits — how many apps it can hold, forms and dashboards per app, and its language allowance. If it doesn't fit, approval is refused until the destination upgrades or makes room, so a copy never silently breaks their plan.
  • Both admins get notifications in Messages at every step: request sent, approved, copied, declined, or cancelled — no one is left guessing.
  • Making a copy inside the same workspace? Skip Transfers and use the copy icon on the app card instead.
