Fix the "Your plan allows N forms per app" message
Updated Aug 15, 2026
You saw a message like "Your plan allows N forms per app" while creating or changing an app. Nothing is broken — your workbook defines more forms than your current plan allows in a single app. Sheetward pauses rather than build an app your plan can't run.
Every Form_ sheet in your App Specification workbook becomes one form in the app. A Survey_ sheet becomes a survey — surveys and forms share the same allowance, shown as Forms / app. An expense-claims workbook with Form_Expense, Form_Advance, and Form_Mileage sheets, for example, asks for three forms. Each plan sets its own limit on forms per app; higher plans allow more. If the workbook asks for more than your plan allows, the upload is refused. The message names your plan and its exact limit.
Two ways to fix it
| If you want to… | Do this |
|---|---|
| Keep your current plan | Remove a Form_ or Survey_ sheet from the workbook (or move it to a separate workbook as its own app), then upload again |
| Keep every form in one app | Upgrade in Admin console → Plans to a plan with a higher forms-per-app limit, then re-upload |
Good to know
- The limit is per app, not a workspace total. Each app is counted on its own, so splitting forms across two apps can keep you within your plan.
- The creation wizard's review step warns you when the workbook exceeds your plan's limits. That lets you fix the workbook before the upload is refused.
