Sheetward User Guide

Turn an Excel or OpenDocument workbook (or Google Sheet) into a multi-user web app — forms, validation, lookups, import/export and more.

Your workspaceStart here

Your workspace is your team's home on Sheetward. It is created when you sign up, usually named for your company or team, and it holds everything: your plan, your people, your billing and every app you build.

Picture it this way: the workspace is the building and each app is a room inside it. The building owns what everyone shares — the subscription, the team, the settings — while each room is one tool you use day to day: the expense-claims app, the price list, the timesheet.

The Sheetward platform at a glancePeople sign in to a workspace that contains independent apps; each app's data stays isolated.
People & roles

Everyone signs in to one workspace. A workspace role — Admin, Builder or Member — says who can build and manage.

Workspace

Your team's shared home: members, plan and settings in one place, holding any number of apps.

Apps & data

Each app is generated from its own workbook and keeps its data isolated — nothing mixes, and access is granted per app.

Everything your team shares lives in the workspace:

  • Your plan and limits — your subscription tier and the allowances that apply across all your apps: how many apps you can create, plus your plan's language, forms-per-app and dashboard allowances.
  • Your people — everyone in the workspace and their role (owner, admin, builder or member), managed on the Admin console → Users page.
  • Billing and usage — your subscription, your renewal date and live usage meters, all in one place in the Admin console.
  • Shared settings — branding, regional and display defaults, and the languages your workspace supports, applied everywhere at once.
  • Your apps — every app you build from a workbook, side by side on your My Apps home page. The side panel filters them by status, by the categories your operator has set up (business functions such as Finance or Operations) and by features — dashboards, line items, multiple forms, languages and more. The panel can be hidden and shown from the toggle at the start of the search row; your choice is remembered on this browser.
  • Data safety — workspace-wide backups, the recycle bin and the audit log, protecting every app inside.

Workspace vs. app — the difference in one line. The workspace is the account; an app is one tool inside it. One workspace can hold many apps — a purchase-order app, a price list, a timesheet — all sharing the workspace's plan, people and settings. Each app keeps its own forms and its own data, separate from every other app.

Need more than one workspace? Some plans let a single account run several workspaces — for example separate Dev, Staging and Production environments. Each workspace is fully independent, with its own apps, members and data. If your plan includes this, the workspace switcher moves you between them.
Finding your way around: your current workspace's name is shown at the top of the app. Use the workspace switcher there to move between workspaces you belong to, and click the Sheetward logo any time to get back to My Apps in the workspace you are in.

Your IDs. Every workspace has a permanent Workspace ID (like WS-3F8N2RQ7YXBPQR) and every account a permanent Account ID (like ACC-7H2KQ9PX4M3V8N). Names and email addresses can change; these never do — so they always point to exactly your workspace and account.

Where to find them: open Settings → Your IDs to see and copy your Account ID and current Workspace ID; admins also see them at the top of the Admin console. Quote them when you contact support — they take us straight to your workspace.
